Today's Living on 'Today's THV at 5': Stolen Luggage
Sometimes baggage is lost, or other times it can be stolen. Recently, police in Arizona arrested a husband and wife team, accused of taking hundreds of pieces of luggage from the Phoenix Airport.
Apparently the pair had no trouble, they would walk right into baggage claim, grab a suitcase, walk out and drive off.
It's the airlines, not the airports, which are responsible for the safe delivery of your bags. However, in cost cutting moves most airlines have done away with checking claim tickets as passengers leave the baggage area.
A silver lining: industry experts say the chance of losing your bag is low, the chance of it being stolen even lower.
If your bag is lost or stolen, you need to file a complaint with the airline but there is a cap on what they'll pay you if it disappears for good.
Liz Massey will have more about the luggage issue in her Today's Living report on "Today's THV at 5:00" and todaysthv.com.
