Accident Victim Surprises People Who Saved His Life
After two years, Harding University student Brent Adams returns to UAMS to thank the doctor who saved his life. Looking up from his wheelchair, Adams says to UAMS neurosurgeon Dr. T. Glenn Pait, "I appreciate all the hard work you did on me."
Adams surprised Dr. Pait, who worked on him after a terrible motorcross accident left him severly injured.
Pait says, "He was not in good shape here. He had major problems. He had major organ problems, injury of the spine."
It was a severe injury to the spine; one that left Adams unable to walk and fighting for his life.
He spent several months at a rehab center in Atlanta, where therapists helped him regain movement in his legs. Something that for both Adams and Dr. Pait, seemed nearly impossible when he first came into UAMS after the accident in 2007.
For Adams, the meeting is a way to say thanks and let Dr. Pait and the rest of the UAMS staff know he's grateful.
For his next visit, he has another goal in mind, "I hope to be on two legs, when I come back." (laughs)
And Adams hopes that next visit will come very soon. Adams writes a blog if you would like read it.
