NASCAR Bans Bump-Drafting In Talladega Turns
The stern warning was delivered during the traditional pre-race driver meeting by Mike Helton, and several competitors immediately began to pepper him with questions.
Juan Pablo Montoya was the most outspoken driver during the meeting, and he asked Helton if a driver will be stripped of a win if they bump-draft their way to victory. Helton said yes.
Bump-drafting is the act of pushing another car around the track, and NASCAR is no longer tolerating it through the corners as a safety precaution. A less aggressive form of it will be permitted on the straightaways.
